Touch functionality in portrait mode

hey guys, I am latest patched kernel (5.15) and ubuntu 19.04. Touch works just fine when tablet is turned in landscape mode. But as soon as I rotate it into portrait mode touch becomes completely unresponsive. What do I do?

I have the same install (5.1.15) on a Surface Book. What I have noticed is that going into portrait mode doesn't switch the touchscreen to portrait. So to scroll up/down you have to drag sideways. It looks like point tracking is accurate, but the scroll events don't get flipped.
