Charlson score accounting twice for the same diagnosis

First of all, thank you for the ICD package, it's very helpful!

I've been working with a database in which I want to obtain the CCI from ICD-10 codes. The reply I obtain from this code:

adm_score <- charlson(hes, scoring_system = "charlson", visit_name = "id", return_df = TRUE) %>% mutate(id=as.integer(id))

actually returns a score that is counting twice for the same disease if there's more than one code for the same disease available.

For example: Myocardial infarction: it's counting 1 point for I21.1 and another one for I21.2

Do you have any suggestions how can I solve this?
