“Keep Awake” setting in OnlySwitch prevents Mac from sleeping even after disabling the feature

Open riethmue opened this issue 11 months ago • 4 comments

I am a huge fan of OnlySwitch and I want to take a moment to express my gratitude for this amazing tool!

Describe the bug After enabling the “Keep Awake” feature in OnlySwitch, the Mac is unable to sleep, even after disabling the “Keep Awake” option. The system is stuck in an awake state, and sleep-related commands from the terminal fail to work as expected.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Go to OnlySwitch settings.
  2. Enable the “Keep Awake” option and choose “Never.”
  3. In the OnlySwitch menu bar, enable the “Keep Awake” option.
  4. Observe that the system will no longer go to sleep, even after disabling the “Stay Awake” option, force quit OnlySwitch and rebooting the system. See workaround for manuel fix.

Terminal Output: When attempting to manually put the system to sleep via terminal commands:

$ pmset sleepnow
Unable to sleep system: error 0xe00002e2

Expected behavior After disabling the “Keep Awake” option, the system should be able to enter sleep mode as expected.

Also, the 'keep awake' mode sometimes consumes the battery when closing the macbook. I think also it heats up the macbook. I was getting 80 degrees celsus. After a restart, i got 45 degrees. I'm not sure 100% but I won't use the 'keep awake mode' and will see if this happens again.

I have faced the same issue. @AmineDjeghri did reboot fix the issue for you?

I found my Macbook dying 10s of times while in my backpack, only to realize that the device was not going to sleep on closing the lid. Of course, it got hot as well, with it running and all while inside a backpack.

Yes . Since I am not using the keep awake mode. I stopped having issues with battery dying nor with high temps !
