No Audio input to Jack after latest Big Sur update
Describe the bug
I can not get Audio into Jack after the latest Big Sur update.
Environment
- JACK Version: 1.9.19
- Operating System: macOS Big Sur 11.6.3
- Installation: I used the latest (1.9.20) installer distributed through this site
Steps To Reproduce
I created an aggregate device which combines the built-in mic (confirmed level in sound settings) and Loopback ( I like Loopback because of the Gui which has level indicators). I enter this device in QjackCtl and hit start (48K and 256 Buffer, though I am not running Jacktrip) I connect the mic to a Loopback port in the Graph window.
Expected vs. actual behavior
I expect audio and get none.
Had the same problem in macOS Monterey 12.3.1. QjackCtl never asks for microphone permissions. Therefore macOS blocks access to all input ports. Workaround:
- Start Terminal.app
- In Terminal.app start any command that inputs audio (sox/ffmpeg/vlc/audacity)
- Allow Microphone access for Terminal.app once you are asked
- Start QjackCtl from Terminal.app - it will inherit Microphone permission from the Terminal.app
@jbubik i tried your suggestion on my venture OS 13.3.1 and still it did not work
