Describe the bug

JackRouter (latest Jack 1.9.19) not recognized by Ableton Live 11.0.5 Here's the Live log report

2021-07-19T15:53:29.421632: info: ASIO: JackRouter: Open: started ------------------------------------- 2021-07-19T15:53:29.529562: info: ASIO: JackRouter: Open failed (ASIOInit) with Error: ASE_NotPresent: hardware input or output is not present or available :-1000 2021-07-19T15:53:29.529582: info: ASIO: JackRouter: Close: started ------------------------------------- 2021-07-19T15:53:29.529593: info: ASIO: JackRouter: Close: finished ------------------------------------- 2021-07-19T15:53:29.529602: info: Message Box: Failed to open the audio device “JackRouter.”

Environment

  • JACK Version: 1.9.19
  • Operating System: Windows 10 21H2 64bit
  • Installation: Latest 1.9.19 Windows installer

Steps To Reproduce

  • Start Jack
  • Start Ableton Live
  • Select JackRouter as ASIO driver
# Paste a minimal code example here (e.g. about how you started JACK)

Expected vs. actual behavior

JackRouter should work as in all other softwares i tried (Reaper, SuperCollider, Max 8, Gig Performer 3) So probably the actual bug in in Ableton Live unless Live expect something that the new 1.9.19 does not tell to Live. Previous Jack 1.9.17 use to work (did not tried 1.9.18)

I have this message in QJackCtl

Cannot connect to named pipe = \.\pipe\client_jack_Ableton Live 11 Suite_0 err = 5 Cannot connect client pipe Cannot connect to client name = Ableton Live 11 Suite

Cannot open client

I think binaries might need to be rebuilt need to see if it is possible to setup such builds automatically.

thanks @falkTX What's a little strange is that with Ableton Live only (among the other DAWs/Hosts i tested) this error shows up

Make sure you are running both Ableton and the Jack Router as administrator.
