Add a tool for animation

Open kone9 opened this issue 5 years ago • 4 comments

Hi, I'm testing jmonkey engine and I realized that it does not have a tool to create animations .. Both godot engine and unity have tools that allow to animate parameters of objects or nodes in a scene. It seems to me a fundamental tool ... is it possible to create such a tool for jmonkey engine ?. maxresdefault 01

I've always assumed this was being / can be done in some external tool. Is that not the case? (I've never worked with JME animation.) Aside from that the obvious problem is that with limited time and resources, you need to choose where you focus your efforts carefully... Possible - yes, easy - no.

I am working on a Tween animation editor (for JME 3.3 new animation system) for my game, I will make it open source once finished.

We won't add a tool for keyframe animation because of the limited resources, also it's not clear if the engine animation system even supports modifying object transforms and not only supports skeletal animation (at least in 3.2).

We're still tracking this issue as we might want state/tween editors for 3.3 animation, though.
