Add documentation

I'd like to add documentation to the project. Perhaps I can even use Github's Pages or put them on my own website. Preferably they'd be auto-generated from the source and be easily viewable if you've downloaded the project from Github.

Perhaps Sphinx would be a good tool: http://sphinx-doc.org/tutorial.html

During a recent Django sprint I've made a start for adding Sphinx, but I haven't gotten very far with it just yet
