Percentage issue with rechargeable batteries

When using rechargeable energiser batteries (nickel) I get 60% when they are charged to the max. This is also on all batteries new and old and other brands. This is within the OrangelinkPro. This is reasonable sized issue as I have no idea when my OL will TRUELY run out and is a source of concern.
