I'm surprised that dependabot doesn't consider Crystal to be dependent on Alpine... Being able to handle available system packages with regards to the image version used seems like a prerequisite to supporting dockerfiles.

Or maybe this is just because dependabot isn't configured to update more than one package at a time?

Dependabot only support "FROM" docker images. Dependabot is really simple in functionalities.

That's why I brought up renovate which is more advanced in updating dependencies.

Looks like there's some linker problems in the ARM64 Docker builds when compiling a binary

I was able to build an arm64 image with alpine:3.22 after adding missing dependencies: pcre2-static and gc-static.

FROM alpine:3.22 AS builder
RUN apk add --no-cache \
    crystal shards \
    openssl-dev \
    libxml2-static xz-static yaml-static zlib-static \
    openssl-libs-static pcre2-static gc-static sqlite-static

A newer version of alpine exists, but since this PR has been edited by someone other than Dependabot I haven't updated it. You'll get a PR for the updated version as normal once this PR is merged.

OK, I won't notify you again about this release, but will get in touch when a new version is available. If you'd rather skip all updates until the next major or minor version, let me know by commenting @dependabot ignore this major version or @dependabot ignore this minor version. You can also ignore all major, minor, or patch releases for a dependency by adding an ignore condition with the desired update_types to your config file.

If you change your mind, just re-open this PR and I'll resolve any conflicts on it.
