[Bug] RSS is missing a lot of new videos. Only the biggest channel are in.

Open UnCrevard opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

The RSS feed is missing a lot of new videos. Then I migrated and it's happening again.

It's very useful to be notified of new videos and avoid having to subscribe to hundreds of RSS feeds or download them automatically.

I don't know how many video rates but I'd say it's only the big channels that are in the feed.

My RSS are read every 30 minutes.

Any ideas ?

Please send the channel id that you can reproduce the bug. And the instance used.

I'm experiencing the same same issue with the subscriptions feed which is probably related, with multiple channels across multiple instances. As a test case: channel: UCQak2_fXZ_9yXI5vB_Kd54g instance: invidious.flokinet.to example of missed videos (even after newer were listed in the feed): 7bsmc8b2lM8, dRB9xzjPngY I've seen this happening in the last 2-3 weeks, hope it helps

@unixfox I can confirm this problem with the current version of Invideous (I only run a local, private Docker instance at the moment). As far as I can see it has nothing to do with the size of a channel, it happens with small and large channels. I cannot see any pattern at the moment. For me, with so many subscriptions (124), it is almost impossible to see all the missing videos or how many are missing. Like @michelematteini, I have noticed that the missing videos are not always the newest ones in the general timeline of all subscribed channels. I restarted my Invideous instance a few minutes ago and it seems to have temporarily fixed the problem. But the problem is that I cannot tell if all of my subscriptions are now up to date. A few videos that were missing before are now showing up in the overview, but as I said, I cannot tell if Invideous has picked up all the new ones now. A very strange and annoying problem. I guess someone will have to try to reproduce it with one or two subscriptions to keep the overview. Just one example of a missing video: jCYfbjJTeZM (It is the youtube hash, channel: c't 3003), it was released about 16 hours ago. Edit: just to make it clear, I am talking about the subscriptions feed, like @michelematteini not the RSS

It is writing here to restart invidious hourly: https://docs.invidious.io/installation/#windows

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction, I overlooked it. I am quite surprised that it is recommended. To be honest, the first thing that popped into my head was: Not me, I run it on Debian in a VM - you see, I am a bit biased 😅

I was experiencing this issue on public instances like https://iv.ggtyler.dev/feed/subscriptions, https://invidious.flokinet.to/feed/subscriptions up until few days ago, which means the problem persisted at least 2-3 months, and these got updated in the meanwhile which means only restarting them didn't solve the issue in my case...

But if it helps, I recently realized that unsubscribing and immediately resubscribing to a channel solve the issue and update the feed (for that channel).

this has just started happening to me too. Private instance, linux - docker, restart didn't help New videos aren't appearing in the feed for a whole day now.

Edit: Just decided to do a full-blown reboot. 60 days of uptime is long enough. It's working again, surprisingly.
