[Bug] Mediakeys always active on selected invidious page
Describe the bug The dedicated mediakeys on my keyboard seem to be always active while using an invidious instance (yewtu or invidious.fdn.fr) and the page is selected. When I have A video running on an online Invidious instance my mediakeys will always play/pause or go next/previous even though these mediakeys are turned off for the web browser in the settings (eg. Firefox config or Chrome flags). I mainly have music running in the background with which it conflicts.
Steps to Reproduce
- Disable media hardware keys in browser settings.
- Start video on an Invidious instance and click on the page so that it is selected.
- Use media keys on keyboard.
Additional context I used Firefox (120.0 x64) and Chrome (119.0.6045.160 x64), both with the hardware media Keys turned off. Windows 11 22H2 x64
Does that problem happen with other websites providing media playback (e.g peertube, youtube, bandcamp, etc...)?
Not on any other sites like twitch, youtube, spotify, bandcamp, vimeo. Only peertube showed the same problem with both firefox and chrome.
I've been able to reproduce this on eda7444c.
Steps:
- Disable media keys.
1a. Firefox: Set
media.hardwaremediakeys.enabled
inabout:config
to false. 1b. Chrome: Setchrome://flags/#hardware-media-key-handling
to Disabled. - Restart browser.
- Navigate to an Invidious instance (for example, yewtu.be) and observe that the video changes between playing and pausing when pressing the Play/Pause media key on your keyboard or other device.
