@TheFrenchGhosty do we allow analytics? the instance is running some analytics (cloudflareinsights.com).

Is there any way to disable it?

MrDrache333 avatar Dec 29 '22 21:12 MrDrache333

Idk it's you that is using cloudflare, the best way to do it is to disable cloudflare entirely by switching the orange cloud to a grey cloud icon.

But other than that you are on your own.

Nvm. Found it. Analytics should now be disabled. I try to switch to the "Grey Cloud" next day, but the analytics code should be gone now :)

No, no public instance should be using analytics.

@MrDrache333 Thank you

No, no public instance should be using analytics.

We need to update the documentation and the issue template to reflect this decision, then. Also, imho, matomo or some self-hosted analytics are acceptable.

@MrDrache333 there is still a tracking script at the end of the page, please remove it:

<script type="text/javascript">fetch(window.location.href,{method:"GET",headers:{"ts-request-embed-key":"535111eb-df00-49a3-90c5-bfc902c85bfa:038cd35a7a3ada26858374e38efa0945778da59e0c3d174bc05402b4be794d25"}});</script></body>

</html>

Also please double-check that you have configured hmac_key in the config file or INVIDIOUS_CONFIG then restart the instance.

You must set a random generated value for the parameter hmac_key:! On Linux, you can generate it using the command pwgen 20 1.

fetch(window.location.href

🤔 Ok. Thank you. Ive removed that script. Didn't know exactly where it came from but I found it. Also the hmac should be set now.

Please consider joining our Matrix room for public instance maintainers by joining our Matrix room: https://matrix.to/#/#invidious:matrix.org then pinging @\unixfox, @\TheFrenchGhosty and @\SamantazFox for asking to be invited to the Matrix room. We discuss troubles managing a public instance, sharing some advices and more.

The website https://yt.oelrichsgarcia.de/ experienced a high amount of downtime for a brief period and also prevented access to some parts of the website for users without JavaScript. These issues have been resolved. Please re-add this instance to the documentation. https://github.com/iv-org/documentation/commit/6646e539f19edad7e229dbe76a860824afcb858f

Hello @MrDrache333,

We have recently released two major tutorials for improving your public instance.

  • Escaping the YouTube block (403 errors in playback): https://docs.invidious.io/ipv6-rotator/
  • Improving the performance and the stability of your public instance: https://docs.invidious.io/improve-public-instance/

We highly recommend you to follow our tutorials because your instance is unfortunately in a state where it is not working well for your users.

If you need help please either ask in the invidious room on matrix or here.
