Optionally specify name of downloadable file with push command

Open ReFreezed opened this issue 7 years ago • 6 comments

It has already been suggested that we should be able to specify a new Display Name with the push command, but if a user is downloading a game at one point and then downloading a later version at another point the downloaded zip-file will still have the same name (correct me if I'm wrong). It'd be nice to specify exactly what the filename should be - that way one could easily include the version number in the name. Like "my-game-v1.7-win32.zip" instead of just "my-game-win32.zip". This is essentially what happens if you upload the game through the website instead of using butler, right?

An alternative would be that the version string is included automatically somewhere in the filename just like the game name and channel already are.

That's definitely something we can do

Did anything ever happen with this? I see some related discussion in #174.

Just picking up Butler and noticed this right away. Would very much like to be able to set include a version number in the downloaded filename as well.

This is the one piece of functionality that's stopping me from using Butler as it stands - would be great to have it implemented
