New installation - issue with email "from" formatted incorrectly

Open jfromtn opened this issue 3 years ago • 1 comments

Issue: When attempting to send a notification from openITCOCKPIT it will fail due to an odd "from" address formatting issue. I am able to use Postfix on the machine to send out email so the issue seems to be isolate to a config issue.

Error:

In the badmail log, there is the following errors on any email generated by openITCOCKIT:

Diagnostic-Code: smtp;553-5.1.7 The sender address <nagios@[email protected]> is not a valid 553 5.1.7 RFC-5321 address. e8si1359408vkk.89 - gsmtp

Return-Path: "nagios@itcockpit"@domain.XXX

Resolution: Curious where I would need to look in order to correct this weird issue with the "from" line?

System particulars: openITCOKPIT Server Version: 4.1.4 Debian 10

Hi @jfromtn,

sorry for the late response to your issue. The email settings are defined in the file /opt/openitc/frontend/config/email.php

Please see the documentation how to setup Email notifications properly: https://docs.openitcockpit.io/en/beginners/setup-email-notifications/

If the Postfix Mailserver is using a from sender address like [email protected] (or so) please make sure that your Postfix Mailserver configuration is correct. (Rewrite FROM-Address)
