Not working

Hello, I am super-excited to get this to run, but unfortunately it is simply not working. I have syn installed, I turn on wordsmith-mode, select verbs to be highlighted, but nothing changes. I do not get an error message. I have checke the faces, and the face previews are displayed correctly.

I would love to go about fixing it myself, if you could point me into a direction where things might be broken. Here is my version in case it matters:

GNU Emacs 24.5.1 (x86_64-apple-darwin13.4.0, NS apple-appkit-1265.21) of 2015-04-10 on builder10-9.porkrind.org

Might be actually syn's fault: https://github.com/stephencelis/syn/issues/6
