isle.exe has issues with launching in steam

Open testing-platform-games opened this issue 4 months ago • 17 comments

Whenever I try to launch LEGO Island Portable on steam it crashes saying invalid argument. isle-config.exe does not have that issue.

Can you see what arguments it gets forwarded?

One "solution" could be just to launch using isle-config (Save and Launch), but I can see how that wouldn't necessarily be the best solution.

I can't see any forwarded arguments, do you know where the logs are?

Check for SDL_Log.txt in the isle.exe directory, there's a chance it might show what argument is being passed.

Try opening steam from a terminal

AJenbo avatar Aug 16 '25 16:08 AJenbo

does opening steam from the terminal work on windows 11?

I don't know, but why wouldn't it?

When I tried getting another version, the .exes and the .dlls were corrupted and they did not work even after redownloading many times, can you provide a working copy?

testing-platform-games avatar Aug 24 '25 00:08 testing-platform-games

I made a program that logs all of the aurguments it is being given, but it hasn't passed any commands when luanched through steam and I have confirmed that the app logs everything being passed after the app name

Ok, you have now narrowed it down to two options:

The .zip one but downloading separate .dlls and the .tar.gz file it still doesn't work

Can you try downloading it from the latest build instead of the continuous release: https://github.com/isledecomp/isle-portable/actions/runs/17141437017/artifacts/3823882736
