I could be wrong about this but I think this is something that happens with retail LEGO Island, I've had it happen consistently by doing various tasks on the island before jumping into the storyline.

What I did was, in this order, build the dune buggy and complete that mission, then went to the hospital, then the jetski, then the race, then finally built the helicopter and delivered pizza to the Brickster.

What followed was a crash, and not only did it happen on a Windows XP virtual machine, it also happened with my Windows 10 real machine.

Again, not entirely sure if this is what the OP encountered, but here's video footage of the crash happening to me.

Interesting. Would be very valuable to get a crash report from a debug build, and/or a ASAN/UBSAN report. This should be reproducible on all platforms, it's unlikely to be specific to the web port, it runs the same code. I'll try to reproduce it

I've done this twice, once with a debugger and once with ASAN/UBSAN. Unfortunately so far no crash occurred. I'll keep trying every now and then. If anybody is willing to do the same that would be appreciated.

Huh, I tried it myself as well and I got no crash. I even attempted to trigger the same cutscenes I ran into when I got the crash (the cutscene at the pizzeria at the beginning), and nothing. So I guess the only way to find out would be if the OP recalled their exact pathing before the crash. To be fair, I encountered my version of the crash on 1.0 so maybe 1.1 has a different form of the crash. I apologize for any delay testing it out caused.

Seems like it's just pseudo-random and probably no way to reliably reproduce it. The fact that it did happen after the leaving of the jail area in act2 does hint to something related to that at least, considering you've both crashed around there at least sometimes
