Better Third Person Conflict
Mod Info
- Better Third Person
- 1.9.0 for 1.19.4
Describe the problem
- Unable to change player look direction while in third person.
- Functions as intended in first person and/or when using keyboard and mouse, but not in third person with controller.
To Reproduce Using a controller, try to look or move around while in third person with Better Third Person installed.
Expected behavior Using the move stick should change the player's orientation relative to the camera like happens with WASD so long as B3P is installed.
Minecraft Info (please complete the following information):
- Windows 11
- Minecraft Version: 1.19.4
- Controlify Version: 1.2.1+1.19.4
Additional context It should be noted that I'm not sure whether this issue falls on Controlify or Better Third Person, but neither party seems to be looking into it at the moment, as I guess it's a pretty niche mod combination.
Hi, I'm new to this platform so unsure of the etiquette here. Thought I'd add that this seems to be an issue between the Controllable mod and Better Third Person mod for 1.19.4 also. Not sure where the conflict lies - just adding my 2 cents, hope it helps in some way. Thank you for the mod!
I want to add to this issue as the left thumb stick movement does not affect direction where player is facing which makes it look not as intended in such cases
it would be a good mod combination to replicate behavior of the movement in games with 3rd person and controller usage like that
After browsing the code here a bit, I'm guessing that the Better Third Person mod would probably be the spot to make the code change. That mod seems to be handling the player's model rotation. Usually, rotating the player entity causes the camera to rotate as well.
I'm not sure what Better Third Person is doing in order for the camera to rotate separately from the player. I'm also not sure if that mod is handling the player rotation by the keyboard input or the player's movement. The source code for the mod doesn't seem to be online, so it's hard to tell for sure.
