Disabled Core won't Reenable

Open dallebull opened this issue 3 months ago • 3 comments

I disabled a core on my 5800x and now i can't get i back. Tried multiple restarts, but since it's missing in Bios as well i guess it's disabled on chip.

Seems like i can disable more/other cores, but if i apply with everyone selected it doesn't enable the diabled ones.

Hi, clearing cmos withg the clrcmos jumper should restore original core count if the AMD menu is not visible in bios. Alternatively, you can try if RyzenMaster can reenable the cores without restoring bios defaults.

Thank you, i loaded the optimized settings and all cores seem to work now.

The function uses the "Set Downcore Config" command which sets disabled cores in AMD Overclocking BIOS menu, but many manufacturers hide it. Even on boards that have it exposed in BIOS it does not work as expected all the time. For example, on X670 Gene (AM5) I can't change the disabled cores without resetting the other options, so using it from the debug tool workarounds that, but this function is not extensively tested. I've mostly tested on AM5.

In any case the change is not permanent and a bios reset should reenable cores if the commands does not work for that.
