As mentioned in the installation wizard, do not use special chars in password, e.g. #, $. Space should be considered as one of the special chars. :(

Does restarting php-fpm service fix the issue? Any error in /var/log/syslog?

If the message cannot be parsed, better give the caller a detailed error message for easy understanding. Otherwise it’s pretty confusing and may cause some more time to figure it...
