Introduction of a non-supporter section?

We should think about including a non-supporter section and presentation of logos. Open for comments - thanks!

Mentions of outside organizations, supporting or not, need to be done only with their express permission. Your wholesale copy of dnsflagday.net has already raised the ire of the DNS community. Tread carefully.

If this has truly “already raised the ire of the DNS community,” that is rather unfortunate. What reason would the DNS community have to oppose this parody? I’m in the DNS community myself, and I found this site to be rather amusing.

I believe there are actually two parodies taking place here:

  1. DNS Flag Day was poorly executed. The word was not spread sufficiently, as is made obvious by the fact that the Twitter account only has 100 followers. Many large sites are going to encounter issues. That’s not to say the concept is bad, but word needed to be spread better about the event. This is, in my eyes, inexcusable. Even working within the DNS world, I was largely unaware of DNS Flag Day until relatively recently.
  2. IPv4 is long overdue to be phased out, and IPv6 compatibility is unfortunately lacking. Ideally, this needs to be changed.

I think the main problem is that DNS vendors involved the DNS flag day have full hands with replying to people who have relevant questions, so throwing this parody in the mix does not help and drains resources. It costs time to explain people "no we are not affiliated with IPv4 flag day even though it lists us in Supporters section" etc.

@pspacek I find that hard to believe. DNS Flag Day has received very little attention--this parody even less.

Sorry, I simply do not have means to convince you. I'm just random person who gets to answer DNS flag day related question daily for last half a year.

@pspacek Unfortunately, I think it's a bit late. DNS Flag Day affects me directly, yet I'm only just hearing about it. It's an excellent idea, but I'm personally a little disappointed that all these big-name supporters did very little to actually spread the word.

Oh well, what can you do? I appreciate your efforts, and this is definitely a step forward for the internet. I'm doing what I can to spread the word in time within my industry: https://www.namepros.com/threads/major-dns-changes-on-feb-1.1119553/ It's getting some attention, but I'm not going to have time to reach out to all of the named companies and ensure they're ready before Feb 1.
