Can confirm the same issue occuring when attaching addres as well as in the recovery tool. Doesn't turn black immediately but only after some time processing. Does not recover from black screen within 15 minutes (at least). Running Windows 7 64bit with IOTA Light Wallet 2.5.4. - IRI 1.4.1.4

@dzabur it looks like the node you're connected to is behind, does this still happen if you change nodes and try again?

I upgraded to IOTA Light Wallet 2.5.6 in the meantime and the problem persists for different nodes I try to connect to: When trying to attach an address, the client window just turns black after a short duration. For one node I tried ( http://eug eneoldisoft.iotasupport.com:14265 ) this does not happen, instead the client displays "Request Error".

On another system running the same Windows OS in the same network, everything works fine.

I'm thinking this might be related to VPN + Firewall issues for me.. however, the firewall currently grants full permissions for in+out connections to the wallet executable and the VPN is also present on the system where everything works...

In #986 I experience a similar issue, but at startup instead of after node switches or receipt like here. To compare, I don't think it's a VPN/firewall since I am not using VPN and am admin for my computer and network. When moving the mouse over the black space, the cursor changes at roughly the same locations as expected for the normal functioning GUI. This suggests to me that the issue is largely a graphics drawing problem.

I've gone through reinstalling much of the underlying dependencies (updated electron and bower) including updating Java 8 and Maven for IRI. While doing so, I was able to successfully update Maven to 3.5.2. I then updated to Jave SE JDK 8u152. When attempting to compile IRI, I get

mvn clean compile [INFO] Scanning for projects... I suppose this then turns to an IRI issue. However, I had successfully run wallet 2.5.4 (launch, send/receive, reattach, etc.) before attempting to update to 2.5.6.

I can confirm the same issue as described by dzabur. In my case this issue was already present in versions 2.5.4 and 2.5.5 and still persists in 2.5.6. It's not a matter of connection to a server. My balance is shown correctly. On other computers 'attach to tangle' is also no problem. In some forum contributions people say that it is related to Intel graphics cards combined with outdated drivers thereof. Indeed I'm using an Intel HD Graphics 4000 card but my driver is up to date.

@wonkytonky My setting was on non-web anyways, but I tried both settings once again. Neither 'CCurl implementation' nor 'Webgl 2 curl implementation' works. But at least the window goes black a little bit later if I setup non-web CCurl.

Bypassing the issue is not the point here. As I said, it works for me on other computers. The point is I wanted to report here so that the devs know the issue still persists under 2.5.6

My IOTA wallet window still goes black upon hitting "attach to tangle" using the latest wallet version 2.5.7.

Phreely avatar Jan 29 '18 22:01 Phreely

Just wanted to let everybody know that the problem still persists for me in version 2.5.7... when attaching a new address the window just turns black and the address is not getting attached (program shows the same address for attaching on next launch)

Is there any news on when this is gonna be fixed approx?
