Stuttering and visual glitches

With this extension (and just this extension) enabled, the whole shell will glitch and stutter.

When using other extensions, such as [email protected], they will also slow on top of other windows when glitching.

From what I've read, it looks like a general problem is the APIs the GNOME Shell exposes when it comes to extensions that modify the shell like this. Maybe it would be useful to add this to either upstream GNOME Shell and/or Mutter?

My system info is as such:

  • Fedora Linux 38.20230702.0 (Silverblue) x86_64
  • Linux 6.3.8-200.fc38.x86_64
  • GNOME 44.2 (Wayland)
  • AMD Ryzen 5 1600 Six-Core Processor
  • AMD RX 5500XT 8GB
