Andoid app setup connection problem while using Android hotspot
Hello, first of all I want to say that this app and library combination is amazing and saving me a lot of time for not developing my self.
I want to report an issue with esp8266 connecting to phones hotspot wifi.
The only problem is that android app is blocking me to connect to server while phone is not connected to another wifi even I do not need this. I have workaround just to connect my phone to home wifi(even while I'm still sharing wifi to esp) for a second and then app allows me to connect to server. So this is an issue if I'm outside of home network testing my 3d printed car

Hi Darius,
Thank you for your feedback.
Direct Wi-Fi connection between ESP and phone is not yet supported. From the screenshot above, it seems that the app is working as expected. The app can discover DNS service broadcasted from ESP server, and establish WebSocket connection, only when both ESP and the phone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network or at least the same net. In your case, the mobile phone is not connected to any Wi-Fi network, hence the app could not find and connect to the WebServer.
The only solution i can offer now for remote deployment is to have a portable Wi-Fi hotspot, this could come from another phone, or ESP set up as an access point (i have not tried this myself, but should be possible); and have both ESP server and the mobile app connect to the same Wi-Fi. This way, both ESP and the app have a "medium" to talk to each other.
Please let me know if you have any further questions or issues. Cheers !
