[Enhancement]: Collapse/minimize for single screen workflow
Before Requesting
- [x] I have searched the existing issues, and there is no existing issue for my feature request
What feature do you want?
The chat window is always over fullscreen which works great when using multiple screens and makes sense in some sense when working on something, however it is also a little irritating and covers the IDE. and i can't tab to and from the editor to the copilot app easily.
sometimes it obscures the view, would be great with a minimize button that makes it collapse to just the toolbar, or a shortcut that hides it completely or something similar
Hello,
To hide the chat panel, you may use
- The yellow button on the top-left corner
- Command + M
- Clicking the floating circle
- Hotkey to toggle widgets that you can setup in the general settings of Copilot for Xcode.
To activate the chat panel, you can
- Click the floating circle
- Use the hotkey
- or, use the Open Chat command from the Editor menu, which also brings focus to the text field.
Let me know if you have other ideas.
well perhaps there is a bug seeing as if i click the floating button, i still can't cmd+tab to get to xcode. The chat panel is always on top of xcode wheter i have activated the pin (blue circle on top right)
this means that i have to actively hide the chat panel as you suggested with cmd+m, but then i have no easy way of bringing it back up.
optimally i would like to be able to toggle the chat panels always on top so that i can cmd+tab to give focus to the IDE and then be able to cmd+t back to the chat panel etc...
One possible solution right now is to disable the always on top in the chat settings and detach the chat panel by dragging it away. Then you can cmd+tab back to Xcode and use the open chat command to bring the chat back.
But I think it makes sense to support cmd+tab and to also support disabling always-on-top when the chat panel is attached.
But I am not sure when it can be implemented and released because Apple is not approving my notarization requests.
hmm, i don't see that option anywhere, where can i find it? 🤔
