Master v4

This PR will never be merged into master (never!). But on the very rare occasion we want to make a patch to v4, we can do it here.

Right now I just kind of manually cherry-picked the commit I needed to bring into v4. The version flow all worked! Even the GitHub Action did the right thing :)
