Disable version check by default

Its very inconvenient to me that its not possible to disable online version checking by a flag but it requires a ENV. It complains about API KEY right away. It is possible to disable this by default and enable it on request or thru the config file?

We will soon be make a 1.0 version of this tool, in that version we would have this check off by default.
