Unsecure traffic directed to web pages with Twitter plugin.

I have Twitter plugin enabled on my subrion website (only on homepage) and all the traffic being directed to homepage is not secure unlike other pages. I have tried goofing around with the plugin and noticed that, if the twitter handle's profile picture is commented out in the widget the problem disappears. Any workaround apart from commenting out the img tag ?
