Motivation

There's a lot of different ways to build hardware, especially reusable/configurable components. A cookbook/guide on best practices, trade-offs, etc. would be very helpful for new users.

As part of this, I realized there isn't even good documentation in the user guide for how to instantiate a module, best practices for passing inputs or accessing outputs, etc.
