Turning off notifications for replies in threads no longer works

Describe the bug Previously it was possible to disable notifications for replies in threads, but since the recent update this no longer works

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Untick "Notify me about replies to threads I’m following" in Slack preferences
2. Message on a thread
3. Get someone else to message on a thread
4. Observe that you still get a notification

Expected behavior For Threads to be highlighted in white bold but no notification badge

I find this bug particularly annoying. What is the plan for resolving it?

This is an issue on Desktop/Linux as well.
