Got GitHub linked for Teams, but can't figure out how to link it to just one channel.
You need significantly better documentation on how to link GitHub to a specific channel.
@CPapas Can you provide more details about your issue.
- While you install the GitHub app in Teams, have to selected 'Add to a team' to point to the team that your channel is present.
- Once you do that, you can just run @ github subscribe Org/repo.
Please share any snapshots that can help us in understanding the issue.
Once again, instructions are sorely lacking. I went to the team channel I wanted to add GitHub notifications. Typed in what you said, and nothing happens.

Agreed with @CPapas, our organization has added the integration to Teams but cannot get the command @github subscribe organization/repository to work. These commands only work on DMs to GitHub, and the only functionality available within a channel is to open a new Issue.
@ashokirla, can you clarify your instruction? I do not see this option:
- While you install the GitHub app in Teams, have to selected 'Add to a team' to point to the team that your channel is present.
@CPapas @goroderickgo I also had the same problem. When you install the app in teams there should be a dropdown arrow next to the Add button. You have to hit that and it will prompt you to install the app in a specific teams channel.
If you already have the app installed then you will have to uninstall and try again.
I have to agree with @CPapas about the documentation though. Unless I missed it, there is no mention about how to set up the app in a specific channel which I imagine is probably the vast majority of use cases.
Thanks @EvanShaw for the advice. With the instructions, I was able to get it working on our teams channel.
Seems like the bot can only be applied to a single channel, though curious if you've found differently. In our use-case, we have multiple teams monitoring different repos, and it doesn't seem like this integration has that capability yet (unless we coordinate different users installing the bots on different channels).

I didn't try adding it to multiple channels so I'm not sure. It didn't seem like there was any way to do that though...
As with gotoderickgo, we have multiple teams working on multiple projects. The goal is for the Dev chat channel in those teams to get notification for repo actions for the relevant repos they're subscribed to. I didn't expect to have to install it for each team (and not be able to!)
Isn't a bot supposed to work like a robot user - I.e. once installed (i.e. available in your org), you add it to a team/converstaion/channel, and then talk to it like a team member?
Bumping this, as we currently get an error when trying to add the bot to a public channel.
Update: I'm not sure why but it magically started allowing us to add it without errors. 🤷
No need to reinstall the app. See Screenshot (sorry, in German)
On 4. hit the arrow besides open, then add the bot to a Team. You need to do that for each channel the bot should post messages to.

Based on my experience, you have to use a bot command to finish the setup for the desired channel. Adding it to a channel enables it for the whole Team, but triggering the bot in a given channel will allow you to customize what happens in each individual channel.
