We currently use the given argument in three distinct ways for three families of functions:

• generating data
• querying models/pulling data
• setting priors, parameters and restrictions on models with confounding (i.e. "given" column of parameters_df)

this is tricky; these are all conditional actions

use 1 is the least common usage and might be most easily changed; it could perhaps be "having"
