'lore init' error on centos7

I'm mostly posting this so it's searchable by others who might run into the issue, but perhaps a Git version check could be added to provide a more descriptive error code? Current error is:

subprocess.CalledProcessError: Command '('git', '-C', '/home/evan/.pyenv', 'pull')' returned non-zero exit status 129.

The latest Git version currently available from default centos7 repos is 1.8.3.1, but this doesn't support the -C command line switch is used by lore init, resulting in the error. The -C switch appears to have been added in 1.8.5.

The easiest way to update Git on centos7 without using third-party repos appears to be this - https://www.softwarecollections.org/en/scls/rhscl/rh-git29/
