If I'm not mistaken only the numerical values are expected (see: https://inspirehep.net/info/Experiments/list), all the others are input errors. But I believe there's still useful data to be recovered in those: can I have your help in building a mapping from these values to the actual numbers?

Heath, since you're the one most familiar with these numbers could we ask for your help with the cleanup?
Thanks - Annette

Let's add him to the CC: @hoc3426
@hoc3426 could you review the contents of 372__a
on Inspire for experiments? some are using your new hierarchical classification, but there is still lots of other stuff there, as explained in this issue.
I've cleaned all the records with the numerical INSPIRE code (which all have $$9 INSPIRE), so that they only have the numerical code. All the rest would have to be cleaned by a mapping but it's not exactly "1 to 1 and onto". Many are simply the accelerator. I'll take a look at this and see what I can do.
OK, I have cleaned up most of these. The rest with only 1 or 2 entries can be ignored.

I've got all the major ones converted. I think the rest can simply be deleted. @michamos
