CitationAnalysis: several records with same report number

Open ksachs opened this issue 6 years ago • 3 comments

For the LHC design report we have a record for every volume. They have 2 report numbers: one for the volume and one for the full report:

000673262 037__ $$aCERN-2004-003-V-3
000673262 037__ $$aCERN-2004-003
000673261 037__ $$aCERN-2004-003-V-2
000673261 037__ $$aCERN-2004-003
000656250 037__ $$aCERN-2004-003-V-1
000656250 037__ $$aCERN-2004-003

The reference is often for CERN-2004-003, on legacy this is counted for all 3 records.

This is different for journal pubnotes: 3 articles on the same page are still 3 different articles.

Same problem for TESLA TDR, reportnumber:DESY-01-011*

Is this a problem on labs? What solution do you suggest @ksachs ?

legacy has the same problem, though sometimes not visible due to the weird indexing.

We might have to deal with it from the content side. Maybe we should add one record for the super-article (CERN-2004-003) + separate records for the volumes. Then the reportnumber would be a unique identifier.
