[Feature request] Autosave

Considering how often I accidentally crash Inky by creating an infinite loop, it would be really nice to have an autosave feature with a configurable time interval.

It’s worth noting that when ink gets into an infinite loop it doesn’t lock inky up completely, so you can still hit save (ctrl+S). What’s more useful tho is you can click to put the cursor onto a blank line and type ~, which will cause a recompile and an error and allow you to continue working again.

I appreciate a “stop running” button would be more useful here!

+1 for an autosave. Ideally with an option in settings to disable it, just for those of us that might not want to use an auto-save

In my experience it actually has caused Inky to lock up completely, as in I can't select a line with the cursor, type anything, or use Ctrl+S to save. The only way to close the program is to force-quit it using Task Manager, and then even if I have hit Ctrl+S (and waited a while) before doing so, I lose my changes.

A 'stop running' button absolutely would be very useful.

It absolutely would; I’m just hoping to share a workaround that’s saved me in the past.

If we have an autosave - I'd rather it be the style where, when you bring up Inky again - it has something like "We have a draft you might've been working on but didn't save. Want to restore this? [Yes, Open in Text Editor, No] " So if what's autosaved is a problem child, you won't just infinitely restore broken ink.

+1. Sounds perfect.

+1.

I think the live preview of changes tricks me into thinking my changes are saved.
