How Do I Change the Colors--Prefs Do Nothing

I opened in Atom and text is white on light gray background, so I can't read the text. I'm not finding a way to change this. Iex settings' colors seem to do nothing.

Can anyone tell me how to adjust the colors to work with a light theme? When I change the color values in prefs, nothing changes. Very frustrated at not being able to use this effectively in an Atom light-theme.

For now I just hacked in a font color in my css file. Curious why iex doesn't reflect colors in selected theme.

I've been trying to change the colors as well. I use light themes, so the defaults don't work at all.
