FR - Desktop App Take Focus on Notification

Open SerGinger opened this issue 3 years ago • 0 comments

Problem Description

Due to available screen space on a dual monitor solution, users have to choose two of three apps to have full screen and always available: our ERP software, email, Zulip. As ERP is required for daily activities and email will include messages from outside the company (i.e. customers/vendors) Zulip is typically in the background and often times forgotten, particularly if away from the computer when a notification arrives. This is causing delayed response times among our users when using Zulip as the primary chat communication tool.

Proposed Solution

We'd like to be able to specify as a user-setting the ability to have the app take focus and be brought forward as the top window upon notification.

Describe alternatives you've considered

The only alternatives we've come up with would be a browser-based sidebar style app, or possibly notification feed that would drop down with notifications that you could click in to focus on content (be it in a browser tab or the desktop app).

Alternatively, being able to administratively force, rather than only default, email notifications after a certain timeframe would be useful to mitigate this issue.
