why such a big white space on top of the app list?

Hi,

I guess the purpose of this white space on top of the app list is to be able to show the keyboard when "auto show keyboard" is set to off, but why is it so tall? Why not having a thinner search bar instead, or a search round button with a fixed position on the right bottom ? Thanks for the great launcher
