FR: Different delay for frontmatter suggest

Open chrisgrieser opened this issue 3 years ago • 8 comments

This is a super minor request, but could you add a separate setting for the autocomplete for the frontmatter?

Since the frontmatter suggestions are triggered without the need to type letters, I feel like they require a much shorter delay than the autocompletes in normal text. It's subtle, but noticeable, I think. 🤔

Hi, @chrisgrieser :)

I see. It would be better to disable Delay milli seconds for trigger ( = 0) for Front matter complement. What do you think?

I am not totally sure about completely removing the delay – a little delay might still be useful when you want to manually type frontmatter. I think a separate slider would be better, but I also can't tell for certain without having tried it out 🤔

Could you try it out by setting Delay milli seconds for trigger = 0? I want to decide which to implement after your trial.

But then I cannot use the plugin for normal text anymore, since delay 0 is much too low for me :(

I think a slider is the best option, since it leaves it to the user whatever they prefer?

I intended to know "Front matter complements needs ⚙️Dealy milli seconds for trigger or not ".

Of course, It is best for us that I implement it and make you use the beta version, but it can also be tried now by changing Delay milli seconds for trigger.

Front matter complements already ignores some settings, like ⚙️Min number of words for trigger or ⚙️Max number of words as a phrase. So if it need not ⚙️Dealy milli seconds for trigger, I feel it is straightforward from consistency.

As a result, if you feel it needs, I'll add the option 👍

Ok so I tested it for a while and a lower delay for frontmatter definitely feels better, at least for me. Maybe not 0, but 100ms or sth

OK! I'll try it 👍

Umm... I can't seem to resolve it 😇
