Hi.

I've installed an unofficial WhatsApp Electron desktop app and now all Chrome processes are shown as WhatsApp. Monitor Cheers.

How did you install WhatsApp and Google Chrome? are they snaps?

Don't even have Snap installed. Chrome is deb from the official repo and WhatsApp, which I mistakenly believed that is unofficial AppImage, is actually a Chrome App with desktop shortcut running as a separate window.

I have the same issue except the application is shown as Slides.

I installed Chrome using the deb from the official site.

yeah, Chrome needs a special treatment. They are doing things in their own way.

@neofight Did You install Slides as a webapp? Or Chrome extension?

Neither, it seems to be one of the built in "apps", I've not used it either.

I can confirm this happens with other Chromium-based browsers as well. I have Brave installed, and have various webapps installed (either PWAs or shortcuts created by "Add Shortcut" with "Open as Window" selected), and Monitor reports every Brave process as whatever the last installed webapp was.

To reproduce:

  • Install any Chromium-based browser
  • Go to any website (like github.com), and add it as a shortcut, with "Open as window" selected;
  • Monitor will now report every Chromium process as "GitHub" instead of Chromium (might need to fully restart Chromium for this to happen)
