Support for MQTT Discovery (HASS 0.83)

Home Assistant has added support for MQTT Discovey: https://home-assistant.io/components/mqtt/#discovery

To enable this, the mqtt bridge would have to populate a config topic on each device which would have the name and device type in JSON.

It looks like they don't support all the device types yet, but this doesn't look that hard.

No luck on this enhancement yet? Since smartthings already groups devices, i would think there would be a way to alias things in the bridge. im not 100% sure what data the bridge receives from smartthings though.

Hi, almost no xp in ST apps, but 30+ years xp in several programming languages (even some you never heard about ;-) ) including Java/Script.

I could help on this enhancement... Could you give me some guidance? Is there anyone else on this boat?

Hah, as a complete newbie to mqtt (trying to bridge to smartthings), I just lost a number of hours trying to get this to work. This would be very desirable as adding 40+ devices is going to be very tedious.
