Bug description

After seemingly successful restore from a backup (actually from several different backups, to rule out corruption in a single one), the Signal app crashes right after being asked to select a destination/folder for (consecutive) Signal backups. From there on, when starting the Signal app, I keep seeing the Init-scree briefly, but the app is crashing almost immediately. No interaction possible. Only way to "recover" is to clear the app's storage.

Steps to reproduce

  • Start app
  • Restore from backup
  • Wait until restore appears to be completed

Actual result: Signal app crashes and keeps crashing afterwards Expected result: After successful restore the App should allow me to select a backup location and from there on be usable

Device info

Device: Google Pixel 8 Android version: GrapheneOS build nr 2024032100 (Android 14) Signal version: 7.0.2
