ARM (and others, I assume) provide a number of ready-to-use IP blocks which chip manufacturers can use. Examples include the SP804 dual timer, SP805 watchdog, PL390 GIC, PL080 DMAC, PL011 UART, and so on.

It could be useful to provide a collection of these 'standard parts' in a library for use in patching and creating svds.
