Is this repository still being maintained?
Hi, I noticed the most recent commit to the main branch was over 2 years ago. Is this just because there hasn't been anything that needs changing or because the project is no longer maintained?
Hello.
I know there are a number of people who would like to help maintain this project if given repository owner/commit rights. Recently, I have heard that it has been difficult to contact Mr. Tanaka, the author of NArray.
I think this library is really, really, really important to the Ruby community. I don't think we should fork it and change the namespace of the library.
Mr. Tanaka is affiliated with Keio University. In some cases, we may need to ask the Ruby Association office to try to contact him.
If it's accepted, I can help maintaining this product. I have some products that depend on this product.

Me, too.
Hello,
First, I would like to thank the original author @masa16 for their incredible work on Numo::NArray.
As there has not been much activity recently, I have taken the liberty of forking the project to continue its development under the name numo-narray-alt. The main reason for this is that I maintain an OSS project called Rumale, which is heavily dependent on Numo::NArray. The future development of Rumale would be stalled without a maintained version of this library.
I apologize for proceeding without any prior communication. I did not have a way to contact the maintainers directly.
Please know that the numo-narray-alt is not intended to compete with or obstruct the original project. My goal is simply to ensure that the community has a maintained version available. I also hope official development on Numo::NArray will resume.
@yoshoku do you also plan to create alt versions of the other numo gems?
@mvz I have already created an alt version of Numo::Linalg. The gems I have created have switched their dependency to numo-narray-alt. Please see here: https://github.com/yoshoku/numo-narray-alt?tab=readme-ov-file#related-projects
