that would not work where encryption on transit is required including a local loopback/unix domain server. So it would be good to have support for an optional SSL.

👍 waiting for this feature so I don't have to build a standalone TCP server and move cache to Redis :(

Agree. I still think it is worth merging as people who are used to LuaJIT would like to understand relative performance.
