In our popup, when the user inserts IP and Port in the HTTP field, they get copied to the other fields. So it is basically the same feature.

The whole point of the extension is to be able to store the browser proxy config for later application.

I think it's reasonable that it be able to capture the config exactly, same as how the user would configure manually.

Copying to other fields is actually not desirable if you want them to be separate.
