feat: Option-Drag to duplicate cells like Figma
One of my favorite features of Figma/Sketch/Illustrator are being able to hold down the option key and drag to copy/duplicate artboards and objects. It would be great if I could do the same in Quadratic for cell ranges.
Can you elaborate on how you think this might be useful in a spreadsheet environment? Very interesting suggestion!
Let's say you're building out a model and then want to explore a variant which models out some weird scenario- you could try to do it in place and then undo, but you'd be worried about overwriting your original- you could save a new copy but then you can't easily compare things side by side and then you end up cluttering your file system.
Noting from a duplicate issue I created:
A common computing interaction is to click and select an item and then option + drag to create a duplicate. You can do this in many tools today, including:
- Figma: option + drag to duplicate objects
- Powerpoint: option + drag to duplicate content/frames
- Finder (macos): option + drag to duplicate files
Perhaps Quadratic should support this for option + dragging cells or a selection of cells.
