Native Apple Silicon support post-Qt 6.2 release
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. Currently there is no problem, but knowing Apple, they will want to remove x86_64 support from M1 asap. Better to get the native app done.
Describe the solution you'd like After Qt 6.2 releases (expected at the end of September?) it should just take a few build system changes/script updates to compile for macOS arm64.
Describe alternatives you've considered N/A
Additional context N/A
Bump: Qt 6.2 stable has been released.
Any updates on this?
Any info on this?
Hey all, sorry for the long delay on this. We're testing a beta release now that includes native Apple Silicon support (universal binary) - I don't have an exact release date, but it'll be out when testing is complete.
We are not updating to Qt 6.2 right now because we aren't ready to drop some of the OSes that are dropped in 6.2, but we were able to get Qt 5.15 to build for arm64, and we created a universal build that way.
Hi @JonathonH-PIA, any updates on this? No arm64 support after close to two years of public consumer use of an arm64 Mac has me starting to look at other providers who do have arm64 clients. It looks like this is intended to land in v3.4.0, do you have any ability to commit to that? Thanks!
@repentsinner it's in the 3.4 beta - just subscribe to the beta and you can access the apple silicon versions.
A year later, still no publicly (non beta) released version with Apple Silicon support. Any updates?
We're promoting the beta soon, we'll keep you updated. As this is already in beta i'll close this for now.
