Oh! What a beautiful cd-player!
I agree.

And your avatar:

This is just for record, I figured it's worth uploading to see what we might expect and to look at the flaws and see what we should not do.
For what action or application do you want to use this icon?
If you want to understand how to draw music score in '98 style, look here:

All large sizes are on this page and smaller are here (the icon of CD is also there).
If you really want to make icons, I can send you .icpr files (for IconLover Windows program) with formats and layers created by me.

Here. The Goobox (Gnome CD player) application icon (rip, grip & goobox).

If you know programs that play exclusively audio discs, tell me their names, and I'll add symlinks for them.

Beautiful!
I'm thinking of making one.
I also think that this icon will be good for any audio player, as music is still associated with CDs

Well, perhaps. But I am of the opinion that win98 icons should be extremely informative, while maintaining the conciseness of artistic performance. There are unfinished icons of winamp, windows media player 9, media player classic, which can be icons for the software you listed. They may have to be slightly modified (as vlc icon, for example) to make them look different. Because there are people who have all these programs installed at once and they will lie on the desktop in a row with the same icons, like Boy Scouts
jajaja, I tend to agree with you on this :D
Perhaps to some of similar icons, you can change the color of the disc.

I think Dragon Player is a good candidate, it also has a Play Disc button https://apps.kde.org/dragonplayer/
